Thai yoga is a unique powerful body treatment also called “passive yoga” as stretching, extensions, and joint mobilization‘s are derived from yoga poses. According to traditional teachings, the main energy (sen) lines are activated through gentle stretching and rhythmical pressure with arms, hands, elbows, knees and feet of the therapist.
When the energy lines of the body (which control our physical, emotional, and mental processes) are blocked by physical and emotional stress, unhealthy lifestyle, or in adequate food, this can lead to pain, distress, and illness. Thankfully, Thai yoga helps activate the flow of energy and the self-healing process.
The intention of this class is to teach the fundamentals of Thai Yoga for instructors, and to bring more awareness to providing safe, appropriate and supportive touch. We will cover:
History of Thai Yoga
Thai Yoga Philosophy
Working with the Sen Lines
Principles of Touch
A series of Thai yoga protocol for the whole body
Benefits and Contraindications
The importance of a health history and consent to touch
We will finish up the day with a fun Partner Yoga practice.
